Synopsis:

The course content is the examination as given by the study plan.

The examination consisting of a written and oral part covers all the topics of the CESM1,2,3 courses and can only be taken after successful completion of the 3 courses. Detailed information is to be obtained from the teacher.

Requirements:

The exam consists of a written and an oral part. The written part lasts a maximum of 100 minutes, and the oral part 2030 minutes plus preparation time. A student may proceed to the oral part of the exam only after successfully passing the written part.

I. The written part consists of 23 tasks, each requiring a coherent text in a formal or neutral style in standard language (e.g., a formal letter). The assessment focuses on structure, grammatical and factual accuracy, stylistic appropriateness, and formal layout (if required).

II. The oral part consists of three components:

1) Analysis and interpretation of a given text (of a general or specialized nature); assessment focuses on comprehension of the text as well as completion of related language tasks (e.g., questions concerning grammar or vocabulary).

2) A specialized part concerning one of the topics covered in the course (see course materials and class notes).

3) An interview on topics such as: university studies, particularly studies at our faculty; the students bachelors project; the history of the faculty and the university; and basic information about the scientific activities of the department where the student is enrolled.

The oral exam also includes a review and correction of the written part.

Syllabus of lectures:

Knowledge based on required and supplementary sources, i.e., competence in orthography, morphology, syntax, style, appropriate oral skills.

The course is run as a series of seminars following the topics and scope of the syllabus mentioned above.

To test the knowledge and skills given by the syllabus.

To reach CEFR B2 level + Czech for specific purposes
