Synopsis:

Subject introduces students with functioning of economy in terms of macroeconomic variables that are framed in theories of economic growth derived from basic economic schools. These schools have overlaps to macroeconomic policy and its tools. Macroeconomics and its analysis makes familiar with economic phenomenon and problems of national economy and equilibrium at aggregate level. It also familiarizes with economic policy, its goals and efficiency of using its tools of exogenous and endogenous monetary and fiscal policy.

Requirements:

Exam is divided to written part and oral part. Condition for admittance on oral part is to write examination test and score minimum of 70% points in examination period.

Syllabus of lectures:

Performance of economy on aggregate level (GDP, GNP, NI, YD, NEW).

Keynesian expenditure model (function of consumption expenditures, savings function, investment function. equilibrium product in two sector economy).

Model ADAS (aggregate demand, aggregate supply, equilibrium on aggregate level).

Balance of payments.

Unemploment (classification, measurement and implications of unemployment, employment policy).

Money (banking system, money market, quantitative theory of money).

Inflation (reasons of inflation, inflation spirale, consequences of inflation on economic reality).

Endogenous and exogenous monetary policy (endogenous monetary policy and its tools, exogenous monetary policy, regime of monetary policy, settings of monetary policy).

Fiscal policy (tools of fiscal policy, settings of fiscal policy).

Economic policy and its efficiency (in realm of economic policy, goals of economic policy, liberalization vs. interventionalism, efficiency of economic policy, econoic policy in ADAS model, Phillips curve).

Theories of economic cycles (endogenous theory of multiplier and accelerator, alternative theories of economic cycle, specifics of economic development).

Syllabus of tutorials:

The seminars are not applicable for this subject.

Study Objective:

The goal of subject is to introduce students with aggregate variables and relation on national economy level, economy of individual states or other economic entities by means of macroeconomic analysis’ tools and its application in basic and advanced problems of modern economy.
