Synopsis:

Environmental protection and sustainable development and their development since 1990 and current sustainability problems, trends, sources of information about the environment and shifts in technical and institutional environmental protection in the Czech Republic in the context of the EU and the world (UN).

Requirements:

Evaluation criteria: Originality and professional level of answers in the test (overall level 15%, activity at lectures 10%, 75% knowledge of the answers to the questions in the test). The text will contain up to 12 questions to tick the answer and two questions for the written answer, 60% must be reached on passing the exam.

After completing the course, students will have an overview of concepts, methods, professional terms and standards in the field of sustainable development and its pillars, including knowledge of environmental problems. Students will acquire clear information about the processes associated with the planning and implementation of sustainable development at regional, national and EU level. Students will be able to understand the principle of sustainability and environmental friendliness and implement sustainable development concepts at the local or regional level, taking into account EU trends.

Study Objective:

The aim of the course is to introduce students to the issues of sustainable development and related environmental problems (environmental - hereinafter referred to as environment), as well as to conceptual issues and related legal norms of the Czech Republic and EU directives, or UN documents. Part of the preparation for the issue will be the explanation of the history of the concept and procedure to sustainability, environmental friendliness. In the further development of the idea of sustainable development, students are acquainted with other applications in the world, in Europe and then also in the Czech Republic. Within the framework of environmental protection, concepts associated with subsequent conferences such as global warming, CO2 reduction, mitigation, Action 21, Resilient Cities and Covenant Cities and others will be addressed.
