The class gives introduction to fire modeling, fire safety and fire resistance of steel, steel-concrete composite and timber structural elements.

Fire load

Fire scenarios, Thermal analysis, Rate of heat release

Zone models

Models of local fire

Temperature of unprotected and protected steel elements exposed to fire, fire protection

Structural analysis, video about fire test in Cardington

Design of steel structures, elements loaded in tension, compression, bending

Design of steel structures, combination of axial load and bending, design of connections

Design of composite structures, composite slab, composite beam

Design of aluminium structures

Design of timber structures

Software for fire design

Study Objective:

To learn basic principles of fire modelling and modern methods for design of structural elements exposed to fire. The aim is to get the ability to design steel, composite and timber structures exposed to fire.
