Synopsis:

The course is focused on concrete and concrete structures under extreme conditions.

Requirements:

required: none

recommended: basic knowledge in structural mechanics, material engineering and structural design

Syllabus of lectures:

1) Extreme conditions, extreme design situations, material properties of concrete and reinforcement under extreme conditions.

2) Design approaches and measures for concrete exposed to low temperatures and chemical attack.

3) Design approaches and measures for concrete exposed to high temperatures and fire.

4) Design approaches and measures for concrete exposed to blast and impact.

5) Design approaches and measures for concrete under seismic loading.

6) Design approaches and measures for concrete exposed to radiation.

Syllabus of tutorials:

Elaboration of a seminar paper focused on design and behaviour of concrete and concrete structures under extreme conditions, consultations with the seminar paper supervisor.

Study Objective:

The aim of the course is to obtain basic knowledge about design and behaviour of concrete and concrete structures under extreme conditions.
