Numerical methods in CAD/CAM in geomechanics. Basic types of constitutive models of soil and rock mass behavior.

Summary of PC geotechnical software both in the field of conventional methods and in numerical modelling domain.

Practical solutions of selected geotechnical problems.

Requirements:

Syllabus of lectures:

Suitability, capability and limitations of conventional analytical and numerical methods in CAD/CAM in geomechanics.

Basic types of constitutive models of soil and rock mass behavior.

Mathematical methods of solution - FEM, BEM, Distinct Element Method.

Relationship of geotechnical, constitutive and mathematical models, validity of solutions.

Summary of PC geotechnical software both in the field of conventional methods and in numerical modelling domain.

Practical solutions of selected geotechnical problems.

Syllabus of tutorials:

Design of primary lining implemented by NRTM

Design of segmental lining implemented by TBM

Calculation of settlement (subsidence basin) in tunnels with low overburden

Study Objective:

Application of geotechnical knowledge to design of geotechnical structures using software GEO and PLAXIS, acquaintance with basic conceptions of numeric modelling
