The aim of the course is to present a special type of concrete that achieves great strength and high durability, which enables the realization of very thin structures. The components of high performance concrete are presented and the main differences in composition of ordinary concrete and HPC. A large part of the lectures is devoted to the components of high performance concrete, the composition and the method of manufacturing, which are subsequently accompanied by laboratory exercises, where the students can experience the theoretical knowledge in practical use.

1- Introduction to the course and examples of HPC structures from around the world and from the Czech Republic.
2 - Components and their influence on the properties of concrete - aggregate and cement.
3 - Components and their influence on the properties of concrete - additives and admixtures.
4 - Components and their influence on the properties of concrete - fibres.
5 - Specifics of testing the properties of UHPC in the fresh and hardened state.

Non-destructive testing of test specimens.
Destructive tests of compressive strength.
Destructive tests of tensile strength.
Tests of resistance to chemical de-icing agents.

Understanding the difference between ordinary concrete, reinforced concrete and high performance concrete.
The ability to choose suitable materials for the manufacturing of high performance concrete.
Knowledge of basic tests for determination of the properties of high performance concrete.
