- Synopsis:
-
The course is focused on the description and solution of basic flight cases of aircraft with a fixed lift surface and the determination of flight performance. It provides an overview of the solution of the dynamics of steady and unsteady flight regimes, range, endurance, take-off and landing. It analyses the achievable values of flight performance in relation to design and operating conditions.
- Requirements:
- Syllabus of lectures:
-
1.Partition of flight mechanics, flight performance, basic concepts, Types of flights and their classification.
2.Earth, aircraft and aerodynamic coordinate systems.
3.Forces acting on the aircraft. Propulsion forces of propeller and jet power unit.
4.Dynamics of aircraft motion. Equations of motion for solving flight performance.
5.Flight performance in steady horizontal flight. Characteristic regimes of horizontal flight.
6.Flight performance in steady gliding flight and descending flight with a working power unit.
7.Flight performance of climb and determination of ceiling.
8.Flight performance in a steady horizontal turn.
