Life-long learning course ?Application of nonproliferation and safeguards at nuclear installations? is focused on extension of basic knowledge on security and safeguards of nuclear installations, nuclear materials and radioactive sources using the Training reactor VR-1 as a mock-up nuclear installation. The course is dedicated to non-technology students from the universities with curricula related to security and safeguards of nuclear installations, nuclear materials and radioactive sources (i.e. non-proliferation). The program of the course consists of 6 parts:
1.Security of nuclear installations and nuclear materials
2.Safety and security of radioactive sources
3.Safeguards of nuclear materials
4.Experiments and hands on activities at VR-1 reactor related to security and safeguards
5.Experiments and hands on activities at v laboratories related to safety and security of radioactive sources
6.Individual student?s project
Life-long learning course consists of lectures, hands-on activities and experiments, and individual student?s project (Training reactor VR-1, neutron laboratory, NAA laboratory, neutron generator, AmBe neutron sources). Individual student?s project is focused on analysis of capabilities of low power research reactors for security and safeguards for potential use for non-technology users, such as layers, political scientist, policy analysists, sociologist, governmental, non-governmental (NGO) and international organizations. The course is held in English.
Admission requirements for the course ?Security and safeguards at the Training reactor VR-1? is basic knowledge on security and safeguards of nuclear installations, nuclear materials and radioactive sources.
