Synopsis:

The studio follows previous course of Introductory design studio 1. The main focus of the course is to extend the application of the architectural design process to include typological and ergonomic issues. The main aim of the general teaching is, along with the further development of creativity, the mastery of architectural design procedures, the acquisition of work habits and the layout of design work applied to small-scale assignments. The specific aim of the work is the design of a small building, typologically specified, with a housing element.

Requirements:

Active participation in the studios (only excused absences of up to 25% of the studio hours are allowed) - individual consultations besides classes do not substitute for compulsory attendance.

Participation in review dates and presentations.

Submission of work in the predefined time, scope and format.

The above requirements are necessary but not sufficient conditions for successful completion of the course.

Semester schedule:

1. Assignment: introduction and interpretation of the assignment in a way that allows for quick understanding.

2.Analysis of the assignment, environment and other contexts, creative and typological research.

3.Creative and typological research, discussion of architecture, concept work, exploration of options.

4.Concept work, exploration of variants, discussion of architecture.

5.Concept work, review of variants, 1. work-in-progress check - stabilisation of the concept.

6. Elaboration of the design.

7. Elaboration of the design.

8. Elaboration of the design.

9. Elaboration of the design.

10. Elaboration of the design.

11. 2. checking the work in progress, completing the final design.

12. Work on the final presentation of the design - drawing and model.

13. Work on the final design presentation - drawing and model.

Any adjustments to the schedule are the responsibility of the individual studio supervisors.

Study Objective:

The studio follows previous studios and expands on the skills a student should have upon successful completion of this course:

- to be oriented in the design process and be able to solve a design type assignment within a specified time (1 semester);

- to develop the ability to work creatively and approach assignments conceptually;

- understand the context of the assignment and learn methods to understand and describe it;

- to perceive in contextual terms artistic, spatial and operational solutions;

- to be able to work critically with research throughout the design process;

- to define the basic structural principles and material solutions of a proposal;

- to present a comprehensive design in all its phases, verbally and graphically.
