The course focuses on the basic functionality of buildings for housing, accommodation and public catering in relation to applicable legislation, general typological principles and contemporary trends, including reducing energy consumption.

Attendance at lectures is mandatory.
The exercises focus on various aspects of housing, analyses of existing housing structures and partial connections within the operation of the apartment. The exact topics are assigned by the exercise leader.
Credit must be obtained before registering for the exam.

Lectures are divided into 6 two-hour blocks, so they always take place once every 14 days.
1. Apartment building. Basic characteristics, layout options. Legislative requirements for an apartment building and an apartment in it, types and compositions of apartments with regard to building conditions, orientation. Equipment of an apartment building. Apartment building as part of a residential complex. Specific forms (barrier-free house, section, tower, ...). Apartment building and construction. Examples of solutions
2. Family house. Basic characteristics, socio-economic specifics, legislative requirements. Layout options. Relationship to the character of the land and the character of the settlement. Examples of contemporary solutions.
3. Specific forms of housing. Housing of certain social groups (starter apartments, social housing, ...). Cohousing and community togetherness. Loft apartments and conversions, use of existing specific spaces for housing. Tiny house and mobility of housing.
4. Residential construction from the point of view of energy efficiency. Why sustainable architecture. Existing and upcoming legislation for environmental protection. Typology and construction as a way to reduce energy consumption or carbon footprint. Examples of successful solutions.
5. Accommodation buildings. Differences between housing and accommodation, short-term and long-term accommodation. Hotels - categories, specific forms, urban planning options. Hotel structure. Hotel room as a basic unit.
6. Public catering - Sales centers and their division, division of catering operations. General principles of operation from the point of view of hygiene, operational scheme in specific operations, basic requirements for interior design.
- Syllabus of tutorials:

1. INTRODUCTION, introduction to the semester, preparation of materials (finding furniture, etc.), preparation of formats, explanation of scales for individual tasks and specification of requirements for the graphics of the works
2. WC in the apartment. Separate WC - floor plan and section, complete equipment, location of the toilet and controls, specification of lighting and ventilation
3. BATHROOM IN THE APARTMENT. Floor plan and section with view. Complete equipment including washing machine, dryer, Controls, Lighting and ventilation. Description of the specifics of the chosen arrangement.
4. KITCHEN WITH BREAKFAST COUNTER. Any arrangement in size and with equipment for a regular family of 4, with space for breakfast for 2 people. Floor plan and section with view. Distribution of sockets, lighting.
5. LIVING AREA WITH LARGE TABLE - basic living space of the apartment with a place for dining, floor plan and section with view. 4/8 extendable table, seating in the living area, TV location,Connection to the outdoor terrace or balcony.
6. PARENTS' BEDROOM - with wardrobe storage spaces or a spatially separate dressing room and connection to the bathroom. Optimal placement of windows and doors including their opening. Floor plan with equipment and section with a view of the facade wall.
7. CHILDREN'S ROOM - for two children (girl and boy) aged 6-12. Equip with specific furniture. Optimal placement of windows, doors, possibly outdoor space (balcony). Orientation to the cardinal points. Floor plan and section in scale 1: 25.
8. ENTRANCE AND SERVICE AREAS OF THE APARTMENT - hallway of the apartment with wardrobe storage spaces and an adjoining pantry/housework room. Clean and dirty zone. Floor plan and view of the hallway storage wall.
9. VERTICAL COMMUNICATIONS IN BD the main communication space of the staircase section of an apartment building with 1 elevator, access to 2-4 apartments from the landing. Location of floor switchboards, basic position of artificial lighting. Surface of floors and walls. Calculation of basic staircase parameters, selection of elevator cabin and elevator shaft. Floor plan 1:50 and section of the staircase 1:25 with a view of the staircase railing.
10. ENTRANCE SPACES AND VENUES OF THE HOUSE Leeward, vestibule, entrance or staircase hall. Links to adjacent spaces (bicycles and strollers, possibly a cleaning room, a waste room. Location of the cleaning zone (outdoor, indoor), mailboxes, place for an information board, possibly delivery boxes... Floor plan and section at a scale of 1:25-50.
11. LARGE APARTMENT 100 M2+ - select the layout of a large above-standard apartment from publicly available sources, redraw it at a scale of 1:50 „freehand“ and evaluate the quality of the layout from objective and subjective points of view, discussion
12. Completion of discussions, submission, evaluation of the course of the exercise, evaluation,...
