Synopsis:

The theoretical part of the course introduces students to materials used in road construction, their properties, testing and use. In the exercises, the knowledge of designing is deepened.

Requirements:

Submission of the work within the prescribed time and scope. Ongoing correction of work and checking during the course of the course. The above requirements are necessary but not sufficient conditions for successful completion of the course.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Pavement design, function of structural layers, choice of pavement design

2. Aggregates, basic characteristics and testing of aggregates, production of aggregates

3. Unpaved mixtures, implementation, transport, laying, inspection

3. Asphalt binders, history of asphalt binders, their production, classification, testing of asphalt binders

4. Types of asphalt mixtures, requirements for the behaviour of asphalt mixtures, classification by product and nomenclature

5. Testing of asphalt mixtures, design of asphalt mixtures

6. Production, transport, laying of asphalt mixtures, inspection of finished layers

7. Mechanisms for production, laying and compaction of asphalt mixtures

8. Hydraulically cemented mixtures, their use, production, paving, inspection

9. CB pavements, development of CB pavement technology, material inputs, implementation of CB pavements, treatment of CB pavements, 10. inspection and fabrication of CB pavements, mechanisms required for implementation of CB pavements

11. Soils and their classification, nomenclature, bearing capacity, compactability, function of the soil plain and active zone

12. Improvement and treatment of soils, determination of workability

13. Recycling of materials, classification of recycling according to location and temperature, principles of recycling, production mechanisms

2. Design elements of roads

3. Directional and height guidance of the route

4. Tilting of the road around the axis

5. Sample cross sections

6. Working cuts

7. Drainage design

8. Acreage report

9. Technical infrastructure

Study Objective:

The student will get acquainted with the issues of road construction materials, their properties and testing. The aim is to gain knowledge for the correct application of road construction materials in road construction and earthworks. The student will deepen his/her knowledge in the design of extravagant roads.
