Synopsis:

The GPA course is divided into 2 parallel and complementary parts. One part is devoted to pictorial representation and consists of three lessons per week. Students will learn the basics of architectural drawing and methods of representation - drawing objects in orthogonal, isometric and perspective form, drawing offset figures, drawing greenery and basic geometric solids. The second part is devoted to mastering the basic tools of computer imaging and is subsidised for 2 hours. Students will learn how to make a vector sketch, create a simple 3D model of an object, use post-production to present the object, and assemble the resulting poster from the output of various computer programs.

The course therefore has a total of 5 hours of direct teaching per week and is worth 5 credits, which means that a student should spend 125 hours on the course in one semester (75 hours on drawing + 50 hours on computer graphics), direct teaching takes 65 hours (39 hours on drawing + 26 hours on computer graphics), i.e. for self-study and independent work a student should have 60 hours (36 hours on drawing + 24 hours on computer graphics).

Requirements:

Submission of the work within the prescribed time and scope (see Moodle system).

Compulsory attendance in class, maximum 3 excused absences.

Continuous correction and control during the course. Work during the semester is crucial to the final grade. If there is any doubt about authorship, teachers may assign the student an independent assignment prepared in school.

During the week when Assignment 10 (floor plans, views and sections) is worked on, a general check of the drawings in progress will be made. The check is compulsory, those who cannot attend in person for objective reasons (e.g. illness) will arrange an online consultation.

The above requirements are necessary but not sufficient conditions for successful completion of the course.

Syllabus of lectures:

This course does not have lectures.

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Introduction to teaching architectural drawing. Visible perspective of simple solids and their systems. Introduction to computer graphics. Introduction of basic graphic programs.

2. Drawing simplified stagings - trees, drawing in the open air (around FSv). Basic AutoCAD tools.

3. Visible perspective of simple solids and their more complex systems. AutoCAD - redrawing sketch plan and views to realistic dimensions.

4. Visible perspective and composition of simple solid assemblies. Introduction to SketchUp - basic tools.

5. Drawing simplified statuary - the human figure. SketchUp - working with block and component, custom textures, sketching into a photograph.

6. Composition of rectangular and rounded solids in axonometry. SketchUp - model of a house from 2D data (floor plan and views processed in AutoCAD).

7. Single-parallel perspective. Adobe Photoshop - basic tools.

8. Two-parallel perspective. Adobe Photoshop - drawing in a photograph.

9. Graphical presentation of a given architectural object. Adobe Photoshop - post-production.

10. Graphic presentation of the specified architectural object. Adobe Illustrator - basic tools.

11. Graphic presentation of the specified architectural object. Abobe Illustrator - creating a presentation of the project.

12. Creating a portfolio, creating a title page, creating the final presentation of the project according to the assignment.

13. Consultation, refinement.

For a particular semester, it is listed on the course website and in Moodle.

Study Objective:

The aim is to increase the competence of Architecture and Buildings Sciences students in techniques for the presentation of architectural design.
