Department of Architecture
Synopsis:

The lectures are divided into two blocks.

One is mainly devoted to architectural composition - an introduction to its basic principles, an understanding of their effect in architecture and the possibilities of their use in the creation itself. However, it also deals with other key concepts in architecture, such as idea and concept. All the illuminated attributes are presented in a basic, pure form and are further demonstrated on existing buildings of historical, but especially contemporary architecture. This section also includes an introduction to contemporary and traditional technical procedures in design.

The second section is devoted to the basic principles of architectural typology - from the point of view of spatial typology and traditional operational or functional typology. This is an introduction to later more specialized subjects of building science, which is why generally valid topics of accessibility of buildings or sustainability in architecture and construction are also included here. All principles are presented on examples, mainly of contemporary architectural work.

To successfully complete the subject, take a written exam, consisting of a test and a small assignment task.

Syllabus of tutorials:
Study Objective:

After completing the course, the student understands the basic principles of the architectural vocabulary, is familiar with professional terminology and understands the basic relationship between man and the building, both from the point of view of creating space and its perception, as well as from the point of view of the connection between the creation and life of the building with environmental protection and sustainable development.

This is a basic preparation for subsequent studio work, therefore the aim is also to familiarize oneself with design methods and the possibilities that the faculty provides to support students in studios (model laboratory, computer lab, ...).
