Synopsis:

The design of three-leg grade intersection based on the capacity assessment, the evaluation of the additional lanes requirement of the grade intersection and it’s designing. Technological tasks in the field of soils, asphalt mixtures and quality control.

Requirements:

Completing the design within the prescribed deadline and scope.

Mandatory participation in seminars, maximum 3 excused absences.

Continuous consultation, correction of work during the course.

The above requirements are necessary but not sufficient for successful completion of the course.

-design assignment

-based on the capacity assessment, design of the right (left) turning and connecting lanes, design of the three-leg intersection layout (directional island)

-design of intersection legs, legs ‘width, directional islands

-longitudinal sections, related landscaping and drainage

-cross sections

-traffic signs

-conditions of visibility at the intersection

-consultations

- soil classification and CBR test

- theoretical design of asphalt mix

- control test plan

Study Objective:

Gaining knowledge in the field of designing road intersection at-grade, clarifying the methodologies used in Czech technical standards. To deepen knowledge of road materials.
