Synopsis:

Introduction to the basic methods of airplane testing, procedures for conducting engineering experiments, specific issues of aircraft structure testing. Processing independent labs and practical demonstrations of experimental techniques and procedures.

Aerodynamics ? wind tunnel force measurements

Aerodynamics ? wind tunnel pressure measurements

Mechanics - aerospace materials and assemblies testing

Mechanics - strength tests of aircraft structure, buckling of structures

Mechanics - strength test of aircraft structures, fatigue

Mechanics ? strain gauges

Mechanics - Non-destructive testing of structures (NDT)

Climatic resistance

Experimental modal testing, aeroelasticity

Flight tests

Noise

Wind tunnel measurement on the wing model

Strength test - reinforced panel buckling

Strength test - aluminium structure buckling

Experimental modal test of a fin

Study Objective:

Introduction to basic experimental techniques used in practice of aircraft testing and proving their airworthiness. Students will become familiar mainly with aerodynamic, strength, fatigue and aeroelastic testing of an aircraft.
