Synopsis:

Design principles for the design of roof coverings for sloping and steep roofs. The design of roof coverings in terms of requirements: building physical, waterproofing, operational, static, fire, acoustic, biological, chemical, lifetime and recycling. Principles of design of additional elements and details of roof coverings of flat, sloping and steep roofs based on the stated requirements and given boundary conditions.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Roof structure - function, terminology, general solution principles, requirements, shape solution, material solution, standards and regulations, building physics issues of designing pitched roofs, material solution (coverings, thermal insulation).

2. Sloped roofs - design principles of sloping and steep roof structures - solutions for additional attic insulation.

3. Pitched roofs - types of coverings, principle of ventilation, waterproofing of the attic.

4. Sloped roofs - Principles of design of additional elements and details of roof coverings of sloping and steep roofs.

5. Plumbing constructions - principles of design and creation of plumbing constructions, material variants, construction details.

6. Principles of remediation of single-skin, double-skin, inverted, walkable, non-walkable, green, balcony and terrace flat roofs and structural issues of principles of design and rehabilitation of sloping and steep roofs (hydro-physical and thermal technical point of view).

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Sufficient participation in exercises with an adequate number of consultations (75%)

2. Submission of assigned tasks in the prescribed scope and quality, determined at the beginning of the semester

Study Objective:

The student will be able to perform structural physical and structural analysis and design of pitched roofs, including their details.
