The basis of the course is metrological terminology and statistical tests used in geodesy. The course is focused on application of standard ISO 17123 Optics and optical instruments – Field procedures for testing geodetic and surveying instruments. Participants get both practical and theoretical experience with testing of geodetic instruments. They perform measurements with total stations and levelling instruments in the field and they also use statistical methods for determining precision of the instruments.

1. Metrology and its categories, brief development of metrology, the most important regulations in the field of metrology
2. Basic definitions in the field of measurement, Act No. 505/1990 Coll., on metrology
3. National metrology system, subjects and their tasks
4. Uncertainties of measurement in geodesy, set of standards ČSN ISO 17123
5. Implementation of metrological assurance in a geodetic company, metrological rules
6. The role of the metrologist, his rights, duties and powers
- Syllabus of tutorials:

The exercise is realized in the form of an independent execution of a semester measurement task. This task includes a geodetic measurement on a metrological base for calibration of instruments (the duration depends on the organization of the measurement work and the quality of the results obtained). Students prepare the semestral work according to the methodology of ČSN ISO 17 123 with continuous consultations and final evaluation.
