Synopsis:

The course is aimed for students, employees of the Faculty and the public whose knowledge of English corresponds to B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The course focuses on improving all language skills - writing, speaking, reading, listening, grammar and phonetics - and is submitted to the goal of obtaining the required skills needed for B2 CEFR.

Requirements:

Students are expected to attend classes, work actively during lessons and prepare independently

their home assignments, including essays.

They are due to také three tests and get at least 65% of total points.

Other requirements will be specified in detail by the teacher during the first lesson of the term. The

teacher is allowed to supplement or change his/her requirements or programme of the lessons.

W1 Lucky break? Reading-gapped text, speaking-compensation strategies, grammar-conditional forms.

W2 Lucky break? Listening-multiple choice, use of English-word formation, vocabulary-collocations with luck.

W3 Lucky break? Grammar-third conditional, writing-essay, review.

W4 Virtual friend. Vocabulary-adjectives with self, grammar-conditionals, use of English-adjectives.

W5 Virtual friend. Reading-multiple choice, speaking, grammar-participles.

W6 Virtual friend. Speaking, grammar-emphasis with what, writing, progress test.

W7 Living on the edge. Reading-gapped text, grammar-mixed conditionals, use of English-word formation.

W8 Living on the edge. Listening-sentence completion, vocabulary-adjectives and verbs with prepositions, grammar-hypothetical meaning.

W9 Living on the edge. Speaking-long turn, writing-review, review.

W10 Crime scene. Listening and vocabulary, grammar-modal verbs, speaking-discussion.

W11 Crime scene. Reading-multiple choice, grammar-have/get st done, use of English.

W12 Crime scene. Writing-report, part 2, review.

W13 Final credit test.

W14 Exam maximizer.
