Synopsis:

The goal is to care for patients with discarded / failing basic life functions, in terms of specific and highly specialized approaches to the care of critically ill patients. In the Intensive Care focuses attention on the fundamentals of diagnosis, principles of continuous monitoring, care and treatment of patients with failing vital functions and the possibility of bioengineering substitution failing vital functions.

Requirements:

Knowledge of physiology, pathology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, nursing practice in emergency care and biophysics.

Syllabus of lectures:

Intensive Care, definitions, organization. The basic procedures to ensure vital functions.

Basic techniques of monitoring in intensive care. Options bioengineering support failing vital functions.

Respiratory insufficiency - partial, global therapeutic options - oxygen, the basics of mechanical ventilation.

Acute cardiovascular status of the I: acute coronary syndrome, pulmonary edema, cardiogenic shock, pulmonary embolism.

Acute cardiovascular status II.: hemodynamically significant arrhythmias, hypertensive crisis treatment.

Bioengineering options support the failing circulation. Technical aspects elektroimpulzoterapie.

Shock and its forms, symptoms, treatment possibilities.

Sepsis and life-threatening infections, DIC. Multiple organ failure.

Emergency in Gastroenterology: Acute gastrointestinal bleeding, acute pancreatitis, acute liver failure, the possibility of bioengineering support for hepatic failure, elimination technique.

Acute renal failure, symptoms, hepatorenal syndrome, treatment. Options bioengineering support failing kidneys, elimination technique.

functions.

Syllabus of tutorials:

The concept of differentiated services, intensive care, resuscitation, organization.

Peculiarities of treating patients in critical condition, basic and complementary examinations, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures intensive care patient.

Monitoring of patients in intensive and critical care, clinical characteristics, functions and work with the monitoring system, registration data.

Airway management in terms of intensive / intensive care, treatment method, nebulisation tracheobronchial toilet, bronchodilator therapy, pulmonary lavage.

Monitoring and treating patients in intensive / intensive care, cardiovascular failure - assessment of clinical manifestations, monitoring of circulatory function, ECG and other monitored data.

Catheterization and monitoring - central venous pressure, pulmonary pressure in a. / wedged pressure (Swan-Ganz catheter) a. cannulation radial artery pressure measurements, blood sampling technique for testing how catheter care.

Arrhythmias, evaluation of arrhythmias, defibrillation, external pacing and intravascular. Preparation tools and assistance for intravascular cannulation. A. Collection of blood from the radial to the blood gas.

Sepsis, the sanitary-epidemiological system, prevention of nosocomial infections, barrier method of treating a patient, nursing input and drains, collection of material for microbiological examination.

Monitoring, care and treatment of patients with acute abdomen. The introduction of nasogastric tube, enteral probe Blakemore-Senkstakenovy / Linton probe and method of treatment, gastric lavage.

Monitoring, care and treatment of patients with acute renal failure, intake and output, balance, forced diuresis, hemodialysis, hemoperfusion, peritoneal lavage.

Study Objective:

To acquaint students with the care of patients with discarded / failing basic life functions, in terms of specific and highly specialized approaches to the care of critically ill patients.

In another part of the course, students become familiar with the area of resuscitation and intensive care, where attention is focused mainly on the basis of diagnostics, principles of continuous monitoring, care and treatment of patients with failing vital functions and the possibility of bioengineering substitution failing vital functions.
