Synopsis:

Emergency medicine is a multidisciplinary field dealing with issues of diagnosis, primary and urgent care and treatment of sudden life-threatening conditions, acute illnesses and injuries immediately to their place of origin, during transport affected by land, air or water resources emergency medical services (EMS) and the transition of prehospital emergency care in hospital.

The course is conceived as theoretical-practical for a paramedic unit from the didactic point of view is divided into three blocks:

Part I focuses on the diagnosis, initial treatment and treatment of sudden life-threatening condition immediately to the location, during transport to the affected destination medical facility, the transition from hospital to prehospital emergency care in hospital and emergency care (NNP).

II. block deals with emergency medicine in terms of disaster medicine, ie focusing on the incidence of multiple disabilities in mass disasters, in emergency situations, disaster relief and non-military crisis situations.

Block III is focused on emergency medicine in emergency conditions and learning the principles Barts (Battlefield Advacenced Resuscitation Techniques and Skills).

Requirements:

Knowledge of surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, neurology, psychiatry, geriatrics, pediatrics, anesthesiology, intensive care, resuscitation, prehospital care, toxicology, radiology and epidemiology.

Syllabus of lectures:

Basic vital functions, mechanisms of death, sudden, unexpected death. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, basic concepts, chain of survival.

Sudden state of cardiology in prehospital emergency care (PNP) and the emergency department (OUP). Acute coronary syndrome - definition of diagnosis and treatment of causes, differential diagnosis of chest pain, acute vascular events.

Arrhythmias of the PNP and NNP. Elektroimpulzoterapie, disorders of cardiac pacemakers / cardioverter the PNP.

Shock - definition, characteristics, differential diagnosis and therapy in the PNP and NNP.

Respiratory failure, acute conditions, suffocation, COPD, asthma, chronic respiratory insufficiency, differential diagnosis, treatment.

Acute neurological conditions in the PNP and NNP OUP - impaired consciousness quantitative / qualitative, NCMP, seizures, meningitis, encephalitis, sudden headaches, nontraumatic paralysis.

Internal environment and acute disorders diagnosis and treatment of PNP and NNP. Acute renal failure. Sudden events in dialysis patients. Sudden events netraumatologické urology.

Acute abdomen in the PNP and NNP.

Acute obstetrics gynecology in the PNP and NNP - specific pregnancy complications can be acute - gestosis, eclampsia bleeding, acute birth.

Sudden events in pediatrics.

Emergency in endocrinology in the PNP and NNP differential diagnosis and treatment.

Acute psychiatric disorders and psychosocial problems in the PNP.

Acute conditions in ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology in the PNP and NNP

Syllabus of tutorials:

Arrhythmias of the PNP and NNP. Elektroimpulzoterapie, disorders of cardiac pacemakers / cardioverter the PNP.

Fundamentals of artificial ventilation - non-invasive and invasive.

Artificial pulmonary ventilation, oxygen therapy in home care.

Child birth in the PNP, possible complications.

Excursion - ÚSZS workplace.

Excursion - emergency department.

Excursion - Fire Brigade - a visit to the Centre with a demonstration of equipment and use of technical means of Fire and Rescue Service.

Study Objective:

To acquaint students with emergency medicine that deals with diagnosis, primary and urgent care and treatment of sudden life-threatening conditions, acute illnesses and injuries immediately to their place of origin, during transport affected by land, air or water resources emergency medical services (EMS) and the transition from hospital to prehospital emergency care.
