Synopsis:

The course is designed as a theoretical-practical one. The course introduces students to major theories and related research that seek to understand the nature of basic mental phenomena such as sensing, perception, attention, learning, memory, problem solving, decision making, creativity, intelligence, emotion, motivation, volition, and consciousness.

Requirements:

Z = completed continuous tasks assigned in class and in Moodle

Ex = study the basic literature related to the exam requirements (Control questions) + successfully pass the written knowledge test (15 multiple choice questions, 3 open questions graded 0-5 points)

Assessment criteria:

A = 28-30 points, B = 25-27 points, C = 22-24 points, D = 19-21 points, E = 16-18 points, F = 0-15 points

Sat 25.11. Aims, objectives and requirements of the course. Introduction to psychology. Psychology as a scientific discipline. Historical development of psychology, contemporary trends. Psychology. Sleep. Branches of psychology.

Fri 08.12. Psychological methods. Famous researches. Myths in psychology. Abilities and intelligence. Cognitive and learning styles. Creativity.

Sat 09.12. Memory and thinking. Learning.

Fri 12.01. Motivation in educational processes.

Study Objective:

The aim of the study is to enable students to penetrate the problems of general psychology and at the same time to highlight the scientific nature of psychology. To familiarize students with the nature of psychological thinking and to provide them with the basics of psychological terminology.

Knowledge acquired: The student will be able to explain the basic approaches to gaining knowledge about mental phenomena and the nature of the psychological regularities discovered; he/she will be able to describe and explain the nature of selected theories and related research that seek to understand the nature of basic mental phenomena.

Skills Acquired: It enables the acquisition and development of specific skills, particularly in the following areas: self-knowledge, self-reflection and personal development.
