- Synopsis:

Subject familiarize students with the basis of modelling od steel and timber structures. Students manage basis of simulation during the creation of static model of the structure as well as the global analysis and check with respect to European design codes.

Typical software skills, designing of steel and timber structures with respect to the European design standards.
- Syllabus of lectures:

-Introduction to the modelling of bearing structures,
-2D and 3D models, substitutive rigid members, linear and non-linear calculations, imperfections, presentation and interpretation of results,
-modelling of joints, eccentricity of members and prestressing
-determination of Eigenvalues for the stability calculations,
-specific procedures of modelling with the help of software SCIA ENGINEER, FINE, DLUBAL Software - RSTAB (RFEM),
-modules for design and code checks of structural members,
-data transfers between modules and software, outputs and presentation of outputs.
- Syllabus of tutorials:

-Submission of the problem for modelling,
-get used to particular most used software packages,
-generators for loadings, possibilities of modelling of joints, 2D and 3D analysis,
-Calculation and check of given structure with the help of software packages,
-using of dimension modules for the design of structures,
-conclusion from the numerical analysis and proposal of dimension of particular structural members,
-presentation of outputs.
- Study Objective:

The presentation of the principles and unusualness during the work with standard software packages for the static design of steel and timber structures. Practical presentation of students with the basis of using software for the design of structure and assuring quality and credibility of outputs.
