Synopsis:

Logic control, Theory of finite automaton - introduction, Petri nets -application for industrial processes control. Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), PLCs in distributed control systems, type sof PLC and application areas.

Function principles of PLC, configuration, HW structure of PLC, PLC software. Standard IEC 1131-3: software, program and communication model, common elements of programming languages, standard and derived functions and function blocks, structuring resource - sequential function diagram SFC), programming languages LD, IL, ST and FBD. Control applications design -methodology. Software tools for PLC programming. Industrial processes visualization. Systems of PLCs, networking of PLCs, communication possibilities of PLCs. Industrial communication standards (Profibus, ASi). Laboratory exercises on technological models via PLCs:Teco, Festo, Schneider Electric, Siemens.

Syllabus of lectures:

1.Logic control, logical functions, standard forms, numer systéme, codes (BCD,Gray)

2.Theory of finite automaton - introduction

3.Petri nets - application for industrial processes control

4.PLCs in distributed control systems, type sof PLC and application areas.

5.Function principles of PLC, configuration, HW structure of PLC

6.PLC software - current situation, basic functions and possibilities

7.Standard IEC 1131-3: software, programm and communication model, common elements of programming languages,

8.Standard IEC 1131-3: standard and derived functions and function blocks, application examples

9.Standard IEC 1131-3: structuring ressource - sequential function diagram (SFC)

10.Standard IEC 1131-3: graphical programming languages - ladder dagram (LD), function block diagram (FBD)

11.Standard IEC 1131-3: textual programming languages - instruction list (IL), structured text (ST)

12.Control applications design -methodology. Software tools for PLC programming, tasks dutiny controlled systems debugging and commisioning.

13.Systems of PLCs, networking of PLCs, communication possibilities of PLCs

14.Visualization of industrial processes controlled via PLCs. Human machine interface (HMI). Commisioning and safety requirements.

1.Course project specification, Case study - education and demonstration robot Festik

2.Programming tools for PLC systems Teco, Festo, Schneider Electric, Siemens.

3.Practical examples - basic logic functions, function blocks, sequential functions.

4.Practical exercise - course project, Case study - Schneider Electric

5.Practical exercise - course project, Case study - visualization

6.Practical exercise - course project

7.Course project presentation, concluding test.
