Synopsis:

The course extends knowledge of opensource program Blender from BI-MGA (Multimedia and Graphics Applications) course. It is intended for those interested in 3D graphics and animation. It offers a complete and practically oriented introduction to Blender environment. Students may continue to BI-PGA (Programming graphics applications) course.

Requirements:

Basic knowledge in bitmap and vector computer graphics in a level of BI-MGA course.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Blender GUI, different modes, settings and customization, add-ons, basic tools, primitives, scene

2. Object transformations, coordinate systems, window environment customization, object/edit mode, mesh, object alignment, selections, camera and lights

3. Materials, global ilumination (GI), Cycles render

4. Texturing, texture mapping, texture painting

5. Modeling techniques, mesh editing, geometry and topology of model

6. Low-poly and high-poly modeling, baking of AO (ambient occlusion) and textures, sculpting

7. Postprocesing, Video editing

8. Motion/object/camera tracking

9. Particle systems, physics based modeling/animation

10. Animation subsystém

11. Python API, python scripting, scene internal represenation, operations with scene items and GUI
