Synopsis:

The course includes advanced analysis and structural design of slender sections and cold-formed sections. Advanced structural design of steel-concrete composite is also included.

Requirements:

no prerequisities

Syllabus of lectures:

Plate buckling, Class 4 sections.

Thin-walled cold-formed sections. Fabrication process and structural design according to Eurocode.

Cold-formed structural steel elements. Purlins, rails, profiled sheeting. Lightweight framed buildings. Connections of cold-formed members.

Steel and concrete composite slabs. Composite continuous beams and columns.

Global stability of compressed members and structures.

Syllabus of tutorials:

Class 4 cross-section in bending.

Compressed lipped channel.

Trapezoidal profile coninuous beam.

Steel and concrete composite column.

Buckling lengths of portal frames and a truss girder.

Study Objective:

Understanding of basic principles of structural design of thin-walled and steel and concrete composite structures.
