Synopsis:

The subject deals with basic elastoplastic analysis of cross-sections and structures. Uniaxial stress - effect of temperature, statically indeterminate cases, truss deformation, stress distribution. Bending of a beam - simple and combined bending, combination with axial force, tension, core of the cross-section. Ideally elastoplastic material model for uniaxial tension, plastic limit state of cross-sections and structures. Beam stability, perfect and imperfect beam. Plane stress - stress transformation, principal stress, Mohr's circle, principal stress. Shear stress - bending shear. Torsion of circular, massive, thin-walled cross-sections.

Requirements:

Calculation of reactions and functions of internal forces on statically determined structures. Calculation of cross-sectional characteristics (center of gravity, static moments, moments of inertia). Required exam of SMA1.

During the semester, two credit tests are written without the possibility of correction, the minimum number of points is 14 out of 34. Between points 14-17, the student receives additional tasks.

The student must submit 10 correctly solved homeworks by the submission deadlines. One late submission is tolerated.

Course assignment is based on min. 14 points from the credit tests are 10 solved homeworks.

The exam has a written form, consists of test questions and examples. Each part of the exam must be worth at least half of the points. The final mark is obtained by summing the points from the credit tests (<=34), exam questions (<=30) and exam tasks (<=36).

Syllabus of lectures:

Noncompulsory lecture once a week, see the course content.

Syllabus of tutorials:

Noncompulsory practice classes once a week, see the course content.

Study Objective:

The goal is to understand the basic behavior of cross-sections and beam structures in the elastic and plastic regime. Calculation of deformation of simple structures and stress distribution.
