The student will be introduced into the advanced topics of engineering sensors and sensor networks. Topics include:
Sensor applications, physical principles, sensor types and important parameters, the concept of smart sensors, measurement systems, analog circuits for sensor signal processing, sensor error correction, calibration and diagnostics, noise and disturbance immunity.

Knowledge of physics, electrical circuits and electrical measurements is welcome.
- Syllabus of lectures:

Applications, types and parameters of sensors.
Smart sensors. Datalogger nad measuring system.
Physical principles of sensors. Power supply and communication.
Signal conditioning circuits. Correction of errors, calibration and diagnostics of sensors. Centralized and distributed sensor systems. EMC.
Software for measurement. Basics of sensor buses. sběrnic (ARINC, HART, CAN, Fieldbus, ASI, LonWorks, Interbus S).
Sensors of geometrical variables (contact, optical, magnetic, capacitance and ultrasound).
Sensors and transducers for the measurement of vibrations and speed. Incklinometers. Sensors for navigation: accelerometers, angular rate sensors, gyros, magnetic field sensors.
Sensors for strain, force and torque.
Pressure sensors, flow and level sensors. Contact thermometers.
Contactless measurement of temperature (pyrometers, thermography).
Medical applications. Sensor applications in aerospace.
Sensor applications in military. Secure systems for critical missions.
Sensors in production and diagnostic systems.
