Synopsis:

Students learn to understand the very close relationship between architecture and scenography. Both disciplines have been intertwined in the historical context of the development of live art and still are.

Requirements:

Student requirements: attendance at lectures.

Verification of study results: exam - written part in the form of a test and subsequent oral part.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Overview of the history of architecture and scenography, mutual influence of both disciplines.

2. Josef Svoboda I: scenographer, architect, innovator and pioneer of scenic technologies.

3. Alfred Radok, Expo 1958: New humanism and technology, Laterna Magika.

4. Archetypes in architecture and their use in scenography.

5. Using the principles of scenography as a conceptual tool to create imaginative environments in architecture.

6. Scenography as a spatial art, where various artistic disciplines come together to create fictional environments.

7. Multi-layered space in architecture and theater.

8. Scenographic space as blurring the boundaries between natural and architectural heritage.

9. Architectural scenography as effective branding, the use of light to achieve emotion in space.

10. Landscape aesthetics and its transformation in the scenic environment.

11. Carlo Scarpa: Scenographic approach to exhibition space, old and new.

12. Mikuláš Hulec: Reconstruction of historical theater buildings.

13. The work of the Caban brothers: Architects, scenographers, directors.
