Synopsis:

The course provides a comprehensive overview of methods of analog and digital recording of sound and images, modern procedures for digitizing historical media and algorithms for the restoration of degraded audiovisual recordings. Emphasis is placed on the description of advanced algorithms and practical knowledge related to the digitization and restoration of records, including scanning film material, digitizing magnetic tapes, removing artifacts and noise. The graduate will also be familiar with standards for archiving and formats for long-term preservation. The acquired knowledge will be applied in the field of AV media production, radio, television and film studios, as well as in memory institutions (archives).
