Synopsis:

The aim of the Business English course is to familiarize students with terminology from the field of business English. During the semester, students acquire vocabulary and phrases related to business relations, the business sector and marketing. However, the emphasis is also on the development of communication skills within general English, students respond to general topics, lead a conversation, ask questions and formulate answers. Business terminology is practiced by simulating situations common both in the business sphere and in everyday life.

Credit requirements:

1. Attendance (absence up to 20%, i.e. 3 absences per semester)

2. Continuous basic knowledge verified by tests, possibly by continuous oral examination during classes

3. Presentation on a professional topic as agreed with the teacher during the semester

Final credit test - pass at 60%

•Jobs, People, Organizations – recruitment and selection, applying for a job, pay and benefits.

•The career ladder – freelancers, in-house start, promotion, motivation

•Management – organization structure, small companies and start-ups, business ethics.

•Sales and Marketing – SWOT analysis, market reseach, the four Ps.

•Sales and Marketing – marketing strategy, product description and features

•Finance and Accounting – profit and loss account, balance sheet.

•Finance and Accounting. managing cashflow, profitability and unprofitability.

•Personal skills – time management, stress management.

•Motivation – motivation through job satisfaction, type sof motivation.

•Job ethics – ethical standards, wrongdoing.
