Synopsis:

Fundamentals of properties and use of optical systems in typical industrial applications. Students will become familiar with the properties and behavior of optical elements and their application in system design. The simulation of the systems will be performed in SW Zemax OpticStudio.

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

1. Application of optical systems in industry and technical practice. Display and lighting requirements.

2. Wavelength of light. Basic optical properties of materials (glasses), refractive index, dispersion.

3. Basic principles of optical system designs. Use of thin lenses.

4. Basic principles of optical system designs. Design in areas.

5. Method of ray tracing through the system, sequential and non-sequential model.

6. Resolution of optical systems, resolution of detectors.

7. Optical systems for machine vision, display requirements.
