Synopsis:
Requirements:

The course is completed with an examination, which consists of a written and an oral part taking place on the same day. A prerequisite for admission to the oral examination is the successful completion of the written part. The oral part is graded. All questions are drawn at random, and preparation time is provided. In the case of a grade F, both parts of the examination must be retaken.

During the first half of the semester, only lectures take place in the INSN 1 and PINS time slots, while in the second half of the summer semester, only practical classes are held in both time slots.

Syllabus of lectures:

Overview of basic types of radiation sources and detectors used in basic techniques of analytical methods, principles of these methods, introduction to selected advanced instrumental methods of research and analysis, utilization and application.

Outline:

1.Overview of basic radiation sources and principles for X-ray, UV-VIS, IR

2.Overview of basic detectors and principles of detection

3.Basics of optics and spectroscopy

4.Basics of vacuum technology (sources, measurements)

5.Selected analytical methods

UV-VIS absorption spectrometry

Atomic absorption spectrometry

Infrared absorption spectroscopy (basic FTIR techniques)

Absorption methods on beams of synchrotron radiation
