The subject is designed as an overview subject, where the student gets to know the basic technologies and design of individual products.

1. Introduction to metal materials processing technology. Advantages and areas of use of castings, forgings, pressings and weldments. Technological properties of metal materials – castability, formability, weldability, machinability.
2. Basic and special methods of welding and thermal cutting.
3. Basics of construction of weldments.
4. Basic methods of production of castings. Methods of production of foundry molds.
5. Special casting production methods. Properties of foundry alloys.
6. Basic and special methods of volumetric and surface forming.
7. Principles of construction of forgings, pressings and weldments.
8. Basics of the technological process of material machining, division of technological methods of machining, connection to the basic principles of material removal.
9. Basic chip machining technology (turning, milling, drilling and finishing methods). Options, achieved quality parameters, examples of typical applications. Characteristic parameters of surface quality, surface integrity, methods of evaluation of basic parameters.
10. Current status of NC and CNC control applications in the field of machining 2D and 3D shaped surfaces.
11. Programming of CNC machines and the use of digital models in production. Options and examples of applications from CAD/CAM systems. Advanced multifunctional machines and centers.
12.Additive technologies and their applications. Specific use for prototypes and for the production of components.
13. Additive technology - 3D printing of metal, DMLS, SLS and other methods, Trends in machine development and technol. for additive manufacturing.
