- Synopsis:
-
The aim of the course is to introduce students to different types of loads that are faster than quasi-static loads. These are earthquake, vehicle impact, falling object impact, ballistic impact and blast type loads. The course will discuss the specifics of each load condition, their anchorage in standards, and most importantly their effect on building structures with a focus on ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced cementitious composites. This is a practically oriented course with real demonstrations.
- Requirements:
-
Basic knowledge of structural mechanics and dynamics.
- Syllabus of lectures:
-
1. Introduction
2. Materials, structures and their durability, cementitious composites, ultra-high performance concretes
3. Extreme load types and their classification
4. Critical infrastructure elements
5. Complex example, laboratory work
6. Destructive detection of material parameters
7. Evaluation of damage by extreme loading types
8. Summary of the material, review and questions
- Syllabus of tutorials:
