*Elective course* The students will be introduced to the method of digital image correlation (DIC) and its use in experimental mechanics. Hardware requirements will be discussed along with the introduction of essential algorithms and post-processing of results. The students will be actively engaged in experimental measurements and processing of results. Those interested in programming will be involved in development of open-source DIC codes. Besides DIC, the students will be introduced to numerical modeling in order to comprehend the meaning of the experimentally obtained data and become able to analyze them critically. The introduction of high-speed cameras and their use in experimental mechanics is also within the scope of the subject.

Participation in the classes.

Syllabus of lectures:

The lecture curriculum is adjusted according to the student's previous knowledge and experience, their interest (practical use of DIC or application development), and the current opportunity to participate in experiments conducted within the research.

Syllabus of tutorials:

The syllabus of the exercises follows the syllabus of the lectures.

Study Objective:

The aim of the study is to introduce students to the measurement of fields and displacements using DIC algorithms so that they are able to record the experiment themselves, evaluate it, and critically look at the results.
