- Synopsis:
-
This course is a seminar in advanced mathematical analysis and its applications. Seminar talks will be delivered by students, department staff, and invited quests. There are no exams but students will be assigned by some homework and they will give at least one talk per semester. The seminar is held in English and attendance is mandatory.

The course is a regular seminar. Talks will differ from one year to another. However, most of them will deal with spectral analysis of linear operators (in particular, structured matrices, Schrödinger and Dirac operators-including their non-selfadjoint variations), partial differential equations, representation theory of groups and algebras, or problems in mathematical biology (e.g., spatial pattern formation by Turing instability). Several exercises may be stated during the talks of department and invited lecturers. At the end of each student talk, fellow students are encouraged to comment on the presentation of their colleague so that she or he can have some feedback.
