Synopsis:

The course characterizes individual groups of new construction materials. In addition to the development and physical nature of these materials, the most commonly used types of recently developed materials, their basic characteristics and mechanical properties are listed. Their technological possibilities, design applicability and methods of their designations are also presented.

• Modern steels of mass consumption

• High-strength and stainless steels and Ni and Co alloys

• Light metals and their alloys

• Materials produced by powder metallurgy

• Amorphous, nanocrystalline and microcrystalline metallic materials

• Perspective ceramic materials

• New types of polymeric materials

• Developments in the field of composite materials

• Biomaterials, superconducting and superplastic materials, shape memory materials

• Surface layers and finishes
