Introduction and related legislation, fundamentals of building construction. Functional requirements, construction systems, spatial effect of the structural system, interaction of elements. Vertical load-bearing structures, floor structures, overhanging structures. Stairs and ramps. Basic overview of selected completion construction - envelopes of buildings, roof envelopes, partitions, windows, floors, suspended ceilings - internal dividing structures and floors in terms of acoustics. Roof construction - traditional and modern timber roof trusses , modern roof construction. Foundation structures - excavation pits, surface and deep foundations. Sustainable construction – news, trends in construction and research.

Basic knowledge of creating technical documentation and drawing construction structures.

1. Introduction, basic classification of building structures, terminology, legislation, requirements for building structures.
2. Construction elements, interaction of elements and structural systems.
3. Vertical load-bearing structures – requirements and construction principles.
4. Vertical load-bearing structures – material solutions.
5. Horizontal load-bearing structures – requirements nad construction principles.
6. Horizontal load-bearing structures – material and technological variants.
Overhanging structures – types and their construction solutions.
7. Stairs and ramps - basic requirements and design principles.
8. Roof construction - traditional and modern timber roof trusses , modern roof construction, roof envelopes.
9. Completion construction – envelopes of buildings, windows.
10. Completion construction – partitions, floors, suspended ceilings.
11. Foundation structures - excavation pits, surface and deep foundations.
12. Sustainable construction – news, trends in construction and research.
13. Tutorial.
- Syllabus of tutorials:

1.-3. Processing of a backdrop model with a 3D scenic object (from any material, e.g. paper, wood).
4.-6. General projection, floor plan and side view „backdrop, scenic construction“ (in hand/CAD).
7.-8. Building floor plan and section of the existing building (CAD).
9.-12. Design of the scenery object – gallery house - facade, gallery corridor, staircase access (supporting structure materials: wood, steel, etc.).

The student will acquire a basic orientation in terminology, in constructions of building structures, in technologies and the construction process of building structures. The aim is to gain an overview of the basic types of load-bearing and completion constructions of building structures with reference to their properties and the possibilities of their use.
