Synopsis:

The 136TPPK course is an extension course for students who have chosen to focus on transport structures within the specialization „Civil Engineering - preparation, erection and operation of buildings“ or who want to deepen their knowledge in this area. The course in the field of technologies and technical solutions of road structures allows to obtain an extension of previously acquired knowledge and introduces students to other technologies of road construction. The student will be introduced to key technologies for asphalt pavements, CB pavements, paved pavements and bridge pavements.

Requirements:

As part of the seminar exercise, the student prepares a presentation, including an essay, on the assigned topic, which is then presented to classmates during the exercise class. The course ends with a written examination. The prerequisite for successful completion of the course is the completion of at least 136DSUP in a previous Bachelor's degree.

Syllabus of lectures:

* Principles of design of hot asphalt mixtures and the quality management system of roads in the Czech Republic (ČSN EN, TKP, TP). Technological principles of transport, laying and compaction of ahot asphalt mixtures, technological principles of transport and laying of mastic asphalt. Design of compaction assemblies.

* Bituminous emulsions and technologies using emulsions. Conditions for the use of tack coats.

*Technologies for recycling asphalt pavements (hot recycling, cold recycling).

*Noise-reduced overlays.

* Warm asphalt mixtures.

*SAL type asphalt mixes. Reinforcement of asphalt layers.

*Mixes and layers bond by hydraulic binders, porous cement concrete. Use of secondary materials.

*Cement concrete pavement technology and concrete pavement characteristics (including concrete with exposed aggregate and grinding).

*Slow degrading pavements, long life pavements - solutions in asphalt mixes (VMT, SMA L etc.).

*Pavements on bridges.

*Paved roadways.

*Reology of bituminous binders and mixtures.

*Visit or road construction field trips.

Syllabus of tutorials:

In the exercise (seminar), the student chooses one of the assigned topics related to the issuea of road construction technologies. On this topic he/she prepares a professional essay and at the same time prepares a presentation. This is then presented in front of his/her fellow students.

Study Objective:

The aim of the course is to extend, supplement and deepen the knowledge of students of the specialization „Civil Engineering - preparation, erection and operation of buildings“ by a range of technologies and technical solutions in the field of road construction (typical composite mixtures, specific solutions for road construction, etc.) as a superstructure to the basic range of knowledge acquired in previous years of study, especially in the course 136DSUP.
