Synopsis:

Extension and completion of knowledge from the basic short course on thermal protection of buildings. Thermal transmittance of windows and curtain walls, linear and point thermal transmittance, ventilated constructions, energy performance of buildings and building energy performance certificate, thermal stability of rooms and risk of overheating, thermal protection of historic buildings.

Requirements:

Submission of the assigned exercises and successful completion of the credit test.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Energy performance of buildings, calculation principle, Decree 264/2020 Coll. and energy certificate

2. Thermal stability of a room, requirements, calculation principle, design recommendations

3. Thermal transmittance of windows and curtain walls

4. Water vapour diffusion through ventilated constructions, risky assemblies and design recommendations, calculation principles according to CSN 730540-4

5. Linear and point thermal transmittances, basic and special cases of calculation of transmittance (contact with soil, three environments, etc.)

6. Thermal protection of historic unheated and heated buildings, examples of problematic and appropriate solutions in practice.

7. Reserve.

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Energy performance of the building (evaluation of the model house by calculation with hourly steps, analysis of the influence of glazing parameters)

2. energy performance of the building (analysis of the influence of the window shading method, analysis of the weight of the internal structures)

3. energy performance of the building (calculation of delivered and primary energy, consideration of photovoltaic system, creation of an energy performance certificate)

4. Consultation (independent work of students in PC classroom)

5. Design of structural compositions and details (preparation of documents for further analysis according to the assignment)

6. Consultation (independent work of students in PC classroom)

7. Risk of overheating in summer (calculation of room temperature according to EN ISO 52016-1, analysis of the effect of different shading devices)

8. Consultation (independent work by students in the PC classroom)

9. Assessment of the construction compositions (detailed evaluation of the designed compositions including analysis of the influence of initial built-in humidity, tapered layers, thermal bridges, etc.)

10. Consultation (independent work by students in the PC classroom)

11. Assessment of proposed details (calculation of temperature and moisture field in details, calculation of lowest internal surface temperature and linear thermal transmittance, analysis of effect of internal heat source (underfloor heating))

12. Consultation (independent work of students in the PC classroom)

13. Reserve, credit

Study Objective:

Deepening of knowledge and practice in the field of evaluation of thermal-moisture behaviour of building structures and buildings.
