Synopsis:

The course is focused on the current issue of restoration, reconstruction and modernization of buildings (residential, industrial, etc.), on historical structures and materials, the issue of degradation and aging of structures and materials of historical buildings, their residual life and failures of historical buildings and their parts. An integral part is the issue of structural-technical and historical surveys, diagnostics and assessment of the structural-technical condition and remaining service life.

Syllabus of lectures:

Surveys, diagnostics and evaluation of historical building structures.

Historic structures, materials and structural static solutions of historic buildings

Brick tenement houses - characteristic defects and faults, rehabilitation and reconstruction

Structures, defects, faults and rehabilitation of historical industrial buildings

Structures, defects, malfunctions, rehabilitation and modifications of historical prefabricated structures

Historical buildings and their modifications from the point of view of fire safety of buildings and health safety

Historical buildings and their modifications in terms of building physics requirements - acoustics and lighting, thermal technology

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Familiarization with the organization of exercises and the method of assigning partial term assignments.

2. Selection and assignment of the structure/theme of the term work to individual groups of students, selection of a suitable object.

4. - 11. Elaboration and continuous consultation of the given topic.

12. Presentation of the term work, discussion.

13. Submission of final term work (in digital form) in the credit week (upload on the course page)

Study Objective:

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with current issues of restoration, reconstruction and modernization of buildings (residential, industrial, etc.), historical structures and materials, issues of degradation and aging of structures and materials of historical buildings, their residual life and failures of historical buildings and their parts.
