Synopsis:

Building Testing. Building surveys and survey methodologies. Quality management concept. Quality systems of construction production companies and production of building materials and components. Stages of quality control of projects, construction and finished structures. Principles of internal and external control. Accreditation and certification bodies. Accreditation of testing laboratories. Certification of production quality systems and product certification. The importance of the quality manual and its contents. Interpretation of statistical and non-statistical methods in quality management and control. Quality improvement processes.

Requirements:

Basic knowledge of building materials and building mechanics.

Introduction to testing

Factors influencing measurement - determination of measurement uncertainties

Quality management systems

Specification of requirements for processes and systems in the construction industry

Construction design and preparation processes

Project management in construction

Supporting quality management processes in construction

Metrology

Accredited testing - management requirements

Authorisation and certification

Building and technical surveys

Construction risk analysis

Length measurement

-Mechanical methods (end gauges, micrometers, inclinometers, calipers, mechanical rulers, tape measures)

-Optical methods (bistatic, stadimetric and monostatic rangefinders)

-Electro-optical methods (pulse and phase rangefinders)

Measurement of angles

-Mechanical methods (gauges, protractors, protractors, clinometers)

-Optical methods (spirit levels, inclinometers, autocollimators, theodolites)

Strain and displacement measurements (resistance and string strain gauges, inductive transducers, potentiometric transducers)

Temperature measurement (touch and non-contact methods)

Humidity measurement (air and material humidity)

Destructive and non-destructive testing

Testing machines and equipment

Differential thermal analysis

Elastic modulus measurement

Load testing (static and dynamic tests, types and methods of loading, measuring lines)

Experimental verification of building structures

Quality management and accreditation bodies

Accreditation of testing laboratories

Study Objective:

The aim of the study is to acquire knowledge in construction testing including quality control. Furthermore, the aim of the study is a broader acquaintance with accreditation and certification bodies.
