Synopsis:

The aim of the subject is to acquire complex skills in the creating of construction details of energy-efficient buildings and their thermal technical assessment. The specific selection of processed details will correspond to the type of building, however, it will always take into account the main problem areas on the system boundary of the building and the connection of various structures where thermal bridges could occur.

Emphasis will be placed on:

- the complexity of the solution

- the structural logic of the connection of particuler parts of the building envelope

- the practical feasibility and durability of the detail

- elimination of thermal bridges

- thermal and humidity assessment of the detail (2D or 3D heat conduction) following the energy assessment of the entire building

- ensuring the airtightness of the building envelope with regard to practical feasibility (variants of materials and connections of airtightness layer)

- compliance with architectural expression / aesthetic principles

It is possible to link the subject to the Specialized Project 1, in which the design of the building will be optimized in particular from the point of view of:

- structural, technological and material (including environmental analysis)

- thermal technical (system boundary, design of the thermal envelope)

- creating a high-quality indoor microclimate (air exchange, acoustics, lighting, sunlight, overheating)

Requirements:

Submission of particular works within the prescribed deadline and to the prescribed extent.

Continuous consultation of work and control during the semester (according to the teacher's requirements).

Syllabus of lectures:

The course does not have lectures.

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Principles of construction detail creation, assignment and task specifications.

2.-4. Complex redesign and detailed solution of 2 selected construction details from previous projects in bc. study.

5-6 Presentation of a wrongly designed construction detail, proposal and defense of the correct solution.

7-8 Literature research - presentation of a well-designed building detail and its objective evaluation.

9-12 Complex design of 3 building details (1:2 - 1:10) of a more complicated building.

13. Final discussion, submission of elaborated construction details and outputs from presentations, graded credit.

Study Objective:

Students acquires the ability to solve complex and detailed construction details with regard to construction logic, practical feasibility and durability. They will learn to design characteristic construction details at the system boundary of energy-efficient buildings that will meet the principles of eliminating thermal bridges and ensuring envelope airtightness, and will be able to assess these details from a thermal-humidity point of view.
