Synopsis:

The aim of the course is to explain basic structural and functional cell units and their importance for keeping mechanical integrity and ensuring motion. The subject is based on application of mechanical structure analysis to cellular structures.

Structure and morphology

Molecular forces, principles of self-organization

Mechanics of fluid mosaic

Helfrich energy

Mechanical cells with internal overpressure

Entropia of the ideal chain

Entropic elasticity

Elasticity of macromolecules

Elasticity of molecular networks

Tenzegrity principles

Experimental mechanics of molecules
