The course is aimed at getting acquainted with current trends in the field of metallic and non-metallic construction materials, designed for aviation, respectively. space construction. Students will gain knowledge and skills, respectively. are acquainted with the methodology necessary for the optimal application of aviation materials, in relation to their constitution and the specifics of processing technologies, with regard to micro / macrostructure, utility properties and especially on the typical applications of selected aviation materials.

Syllabus of lectures:

•Demands and classification of the main groups of technical materials for applications in the aerospace industry, the characteristics of the essential aerospace materials.

•Marking materials according to EN.

•Proposal of material for the utility of the product in terms of function, technology economy and environment.

•Specific materials requirements for applications in the aerospace/cosmic industry.

•The optimum choice of a material for aircraft structures while respecting weight, durability and safe operation.

•Groups of materials used in construction of airframe and engine parts.

•Aluminium alloys, technically pure titanium and its alloys, magnesium alloys, superalloys based on nickel and

cobalt, high-strength steel.
