The aim of the lectures is to extend the engineering knowledge about design matters used in fine mechanics, optics, and medical applications, its properties, advantages and usability limits.

Material selection rules regarding the optimization physical, mechanical, and thermomechanical properties

with respect to working environment (bio tolerance, vacuum, aggressive gases, corrosion effects, vibration, )
with respect of economy effects (price, lifetime, maintenance fees, machinability, ...).
