Synopsis:

The aim of the lectures is to extend the engineering knowledge in fine mechanics with new approaches used in design of measurement instruments and systems.

Requirements:

• Basics of the fine and precise mechanics design.

• Material selection.

• Joint methods.

• Linear guides – sliding guides, rolling guides, flexure guides.

• Supports – sliding, rolling flexures.

• Shafts, couplings, gears.

• Micrometer screws.

• Compensation, adjustment and fixation mechanisms.

• Dumpers and brakes.

• Elastic elements.

• 3D measurement machines.

• Ball screws.

• Drives.

• Design of optical systems.
