- Synopsis:
-
The course deals with processes occurring in the interaction of radiation with matter, detection and the effects of radiation on the structure and properties of solids.
•Types of rays.
•Models of rays interaction with solids and condensed matter - crystals.
•Breaking mechanism of energetic particles.
•Collision cascade.
•Ionization and Compton’s effect.
•Points and volume radiation damage.
•Influence of radiation damage on property of metals, insulators and semiconductor.
•Transmutation processing during irradiation.
•Ion implantation.
•Curing of radiation damage.
•Technical problems with measurements of radiation doses. Measurements of speed ion doses – conversion and direct measurements. Ray detectors and their application.
•Rays in machinery – technology of nuclear reactors, building of particles accelerators , defectoscopy.
Practice is focused on:
•the mathematical simulation of dopant distribution and point damage distribution in solids after irradiation
•measurements of ion dose and parameters of ion beam and electron beam.
