Synopsis:

The course develops students' knowledge in the field of solid state physics.

•Definition of solids. Type of solid state matters.

•Radiation sources for X-ray diffraction. Monochromation methods of X-ray radiation.

•Diffusion dispersion of X-ray on mono crystals and thin layers.

•Crystalline structures.

•Methods for investigation of crystals - rentgenographie, optical and chemical.

•Fick’s laws. Lattice defects in crystals.

•Types of bonds in solids. Madelung‘s constant. Models of bonds, calculating of heat capacity.

•Band model of condensed matter. Metals, semiconductors and insulators.

•Semiconductor structures – diode effect.

•Insulators and their optical properties – scintilators. Conductors and supraconductors.

•Experimental investigations of metal, insulators and semiconductor properties.

•Employing this properties for devices and sensors design and technology.
